Context

The School Counseling M.Ed. program has been accredited since 1986 (see ed.unc.edu/school-counseling).
Responsibilities
Candidates will (a) Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses during the calendar year (including summer) in face‐to‐face, online, and/or blended formats in School Counseling and related programs. Courses include school counseling theories and techniques, research, and/or counseling curriculum, as well as clinical practicum and internship; (b) Serve as the School Counseling program director, overseeing student recruitment and admission, field experience coordination, and program assessment and evaluation toward accreditation; (c) Support strategic initiatives across the School and campus; and (d) Provide leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels.
Educational Requirements
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program.
Qualifications
Evidence of capacity to serve as program director is required. Previous or comparable experience in program coordination/leadership is highly desirable. A commitment to social justice and equity, a strengths‐based practice in the context of the ASCA National Model, knowledge of and experience with CACREP standards, experience as a school counselor (license eligible in N.C.), and/or ability to enhance collaborative relationships with local schools are preferred. Experience with online programs and/or teaching is welcome.
Salary and Starting Date
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with rank and experience. The proposed starting date is June 1, 2022.
