Recruitment director Patricia Harris wins pair of awards

Patricia Harris, the School of Education’s director of recruitment, has won two awards recognizing her work at the School.

Harris was selected by the Triangle Business Journal as one of its 2018 Leaders in Diversity award winners, selected for their demonstrated commitment to diversity in the workplace. Winners will be honored at an awards luncheon on Sept. 27.

Harris also was recently recognized by the university’s Employee Forum with its “Rookie” award, given to an employee who has worked on campus for less than a year.

Harris leads efforts at the School of Education to build student enrollment in the School’s academic programs. She joined the School of Education in 2017. Harris came to Carolina with more than a decade of experience working in admissions counseling and recruitment.

Harris is a national board member with the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, serving as senior vice president of the organization’s Collegiate Network, which organizes a group of NAAAHR ambassadors at higher education institutions across the country.

She also is active with the Carolina Black Caucus, serving as the vice-chair and membership committee chair, developing and implementing programs, projects and activities to support the retention and recruitment of CBC members.

She’s pursuing a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Georgia.
