Jeffrey Greene selected as 2024 AERA Fellow

Jeff Greene, Ph.D., the UNC School of Education’s McMichael Professor, has been selected as a 2024 Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

Nominated by peers, Greene joins a group of 24 exemplary scholars named 2024 AERA Fellows. Fellows were selected by the Fellows Committee and approved by the AERA Council, the association’s elected governing body. The AERA Fellows Program honors scholars for their exceptional contributions to and excellence in educational research.

Greene’s research leverages the science of learning to help people be better critical consumers and producers of information, particularly in online and technology environments. With graduate students and with collaborators at UNC-Chapel and from around the world, Greene studies how to help students self-regulate their learning so that they can maximize their potential online and in the classroom.

“This is a well-earned honor for Jeff and speaks to his stature as a scholar and to the significance of his work,” said Fouad Abd-El-Khalick, Ph.D., dean of the UNC School of Education and Alumni Distinguished Professor. “Jeff has already made lasting impacts in his field, grown a network of collaborators across the nation and globe, and fostered the growth of exceptional doctoral students who are accelerating the learning sciences in important directions. He, no doubt, will continue to grow and lead in all these domains.”

Fellows will be inducted during a ceremony at AERA’s 2024 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia on April 12. With this cohort, there will be a total of 762 AERA Fellows.
