An international conference to end bullying comes to N.C
UNC-Chapel Hill and faculty member Dorothy Espelage, a renowned researcher focused on preventing bullying and school violence, will host the World Anti-Bullying Forum — an international gathering of scholars, educators, policymakers, and youth focused on ending bullying — in October 2023. The gathering will be the first time the forum has been hosted outside of Europe.
School district and cross-campus collaborations serve N.C.
Through a partnership with Person County Schools and a coalition of UNC schools and units, the School launched the Carolina Community Academy in Roxboro, N.C. Already, the innovative K-2 school provides students with robust wraparound services and unique and enriching on-campus experiences. Our youngest Tar Heels took their first field trip to the Ackland Art Museum in October.
Considering an IRA charitable rollover?
There are many ways to give, including an IRA charitable rollover. If you are 70½ or older, an IRA charitable rollover is another way you can help Propel the World and receive tax benefits.
With an IRA charitable rollover, you can:
- • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA to Carolina.
- • Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year if you are 72 years or older.
- • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions.
- • Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts.
How it works
- 1. Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to Carolina and the UNC School of Education.
- 2. Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to the School of Education to help continue our work to Propel the World.
- 3. Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
