Background

Dr. Brad Smith is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Organizational Learning and Leadership at the University of North Carolina School of Education. In addition to teaching and mentoring students, his nearly two decades as an educator have included responsibilities in academic program assessment and improvement, higher education reporting and accreditation, strategic planning, large-scale graduate program administration, program design, and professional educator licensure. Dr. Smith is active in North Carolina educator preparation policy and serves as the President-Elect and Advocacy and Policy Chair of the North Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. He is passionate about working with students to connect theory to practice and promote data-driven improvements in their organizations.

Research

Dr. Smith’s applied research centers on organizational leadership and change management, using both qualitative and quantitative data to improve the performance of organizations and the lives of the individuals they serve. He works to design and implement comprehensive assessment systems to inform organizational strategy and policy.
