Background

Originating from the Dominican Republic, Carlos is a seasoned system administrator with nearly a decade of experience in IT. His passion for technology ignited early on, inspired by his father’s home computer. Carlos honed his skills by building and troubleshooting systems for friends and family. Driven by this enthusiasm, he pursued an IT career in the U.S.

After earning an associate’s degree from a community college in Holyoke, Mass., Carlos continued his studies at the State University of Westfield. He began his professional journey in IT support at the Positive Regard Network, a nonprofit in Holyoke. There, he developed an interest in IT management. Subsequently, Carlos relocated to North Carolina and joined Descours et Cabaud as a junior administrator.

Currently, Carlos serves as system administrator for the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of educational technology systems, providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students, managing the school’s network infrastructure, and overseeing data security.
