Background
Prior to joining the UNC School of Education, Xumei Fan worked as a research associate at the Research, Evaluation, and Measurement (REM) Center at the University of South Carolina. She collaboratively evaluated projects and programs related to educator effectiveness, teacher preparation and induction, personalized professional learning, teacher retention, school improvement, campus climate, kindergarten readiness, kindergarten transition, preschool development needs assessment, science teacher preparation, and arts assessment.
Research
Xumei Fan’s research focuses on 1) ethical issues in educational assessment, 2) the implementation of educator preparation, induction, and professional development programs, as well as the impact of these programs on educator performance and retention, 3) factors associated with kindergarten readiness, and 4) student evaluations of teaching in higher education.
