Amy Lerner, a second-year Ph.D. student in the early childhood, special education and literacy program, has received the REED Foundation’s Ruth Landes Memorial Research Fund grant in the amount of $61,500 for a project titled “Toward Successful Integration: School Personnel’s Perspectives on Refugee Youth.”

The purpose of this grant is to gain an understanding of educational resettlement challenges from the perspectives of professionals who work closely with refugee students and determine what additional information/education school personnel need to work effectively with refugee children. This project builds off of Lerner’s current Research Triangle Schools Partnership doctoral seed grant, expanding data collection to the Washington, D.C., area during the next year and a half.
