Xue Lan Rong named to journal editorial board

Xue Lan Rong, professor of social studies education, has been named to the editorial board of the American Educational Research Journal, one of the leading journals in its field.

Rong, who has taught at the School of Education since 2000, will serve on the journal board’s social and institutional analysis section.

The American Educational Research Journal publishes studies and analyses in education, drawing from a variety of academic disciplines and fields. The journal’s social and institutional analysis section publishes research that addresses political, cultural, social, economic and organizational issues in education.

Thomson/Reuters’ Journal Citation Report ranks the journal No. 3 among the 216 journals in educational research.

Rong’s research interests explore the topics of generation, race and ethnicity, national origins, gender, social class, and educational attainment and achievement of immigrant children. She is a first-generation immigrant whose native language is Chinese. She has worked as a classroom teacher, with more than 25 years of teaching experience in public schools in the U.S. and China.
