Terry Worrell (A.B.Ed. ’82, Ed.D. ’93) named Asheboro superintendent

Terry Worrell (A.B.Ed. ’82, Ed.D. ’93) has been selected as the new superintendent of Asheboro City Schools.

Worrell, who has more than 33 years of experience working in education, served previously as senior director for district services at North Carolina New Schools. She had retired as a regional superintendent for Guilford County Schools in 2013, where she supervised the system’s largest region with 42 schools and 19,000 students at the time.

Worrell received her bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from the UNC’s School of Education. She also obtained a master’s in human development and learning from UNC-Charlotte and an education specialist degree from Appalachian State University.

Worrell was scheduled to start her new job on July 1.
