The UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education was ranked 33rd in the nation by US News & World Report in its latest annual guide to graduate programs, rising three places from its position in last year’s rankings.
The rankings of schools of education were included in the 2016 annual “Best Grad Schools” guide. For the report, US News surveyed 357 schools that grant doctoral degrees in education, with 253 schools responding to the survey. The rankings were released March 10.
“Carolina’s School of Education features a strong faculty made up of leaders in their fields,” said Deb Eaker-Rich, senior associate dean and chief academic officer for the School of Education. “The work of our faculty is recognized around the country, leading us to be consistently ranked among the top 10 percent of schools of education.”
Two School of education programs were ranked among the best in their fields.
The School’s ranked specialty programs:
Educational Administration and Supervision: 15th
Curriculum and Instruction: 16th (tie)
The specialty rankings are derived from surveys of education school deans who are asked to select up to ten top programs in each area. Schools in each specialty area are numerically ranked based on the number of nominations they received, as long as they received seven or more nominations.
