UNC’s Minor in Education hosts reception Oct. 10

Students interested in applying for Carolina’s new minor in education are invited to an information reception and a talk on Oct. 10.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the lobby of Peabody Hall, with Assistant Professor Juan Carrillo giving a talk at 4:30 p.m. titled Chican@ Education: Blazing the Trail. The talk will be followed with a reception offering light refreshments.

The minor in education is designed to arm students with the capacity to think critically about educational issues and to participate knowledgeably and productively in public debates about them. The minor launched this semester, enrolling a first cohort full capacity of 40 students.

The deadline for applying for Spring 2013 entry into the minor is Oct. 21. More details about the minor, including a link to the online application, are available at http://go.unc.edu/m3L9C.
