Background

Jackie Aponte began her career in education as instructor and program assistant for an adult basic literacy program in Raleigh, NC, and later became a middle grades classroom teacher in Durham, NC. She worked for nine years at a k-8 charter school in Durham, serving as a reading interventionist, middle school social studies teacher and department chair, curriculum and assessment writer, and instructional coach. Jackie currently serves as an instructional coach with the NC New Teacher Support Program and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Teacher Education and Learning Sciences at North Carolina State University, with a focus on educational equity.
