Background

Megan Hyland Tajlili is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she brings together her passions for counselor education, human development, and innovative teaching. Before joining UNC, she taught Counseling and Applied Psychology courses at New York University and contributed to counselor training at NC State University.

A Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional, Megan formerly ran a private practice dedicated to supporting perinatal women and working mothers. She remains committed to developing emerging professionals by providing supervision for provisional counselors.

Her career has included roles across multiple university settings, including the NC State University Counseling Center, the VCU Career Center, Meredith College’s Academic and Career Planning Center, and the Poole College of Management Career Development Center.

Megan recently led a unique collaboration with PlayMakers Repertory Theatre’s production of The Wolves, using human development frameworks to enhance actors’ character work. She is currently involved in a scoping review exploring how AI tools are being integrated into clinical training for psychotherapy students.

Research

Megan’s counseling research focuses on evidence-based therapy for school counselors, college and career transitions, and gender issues.
