Biography
Monique Rochon serves as the Undergraduate Advisor at the UNC School of Education. Originally from Bloomfield, Connecticut, Rochon is a Howard University alum, spending 10 years of her professional career in Washington, DC working as a preschool classroom teacher and law enforcement officer. Monique’s professional experiences led her to obtain an M.Ed with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction. Monique then spent time teaching upper elementary students in New Orleans Public Charter Schools, where she also led an after-school Art initiative that provided students with an opportunity to explore mixed media collage art. Most recently, Monique served as an Academic Counselor for the Upward Bound Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she served first-generation and working-class students and families in their pursuit of higher education. Monique’s professional ethos is centered in compassion and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments that support students.
