Graduates of the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program with a concentration in K–12 Leadership are uniquely prepared to lead at the highest levels of school systems. Through evening-based coursework, a yearlong internship, and a practice-based dissertation in practice project — all designed to complement full-time professional roles — our students strengthen their ability to lead with insight, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the systems that shape K–12 education.

Our alumni hold a wide range of roles, including:

  • Superintendent or associate superintendent
  • Central office administrator
  • Director of curriculum and instruction
  • Education policy advisors and consultants

In addition to exceptional training, students have access to robust career resources through the School of Education, The Graduate School, and University Career Services. From one-on-one coaching and career events to connections with a powerful network of Carolina alumni — including award-winning school leaders recognized across North Carolina and the nation — these supports help students transition confidently into meaningful, long-term careers.
