The Ed.D. concentration in K–12 Leadership leads to North Carolina Superintendent Licensure through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. To be eligible for this license, candidates must hold an active North Carolina Principal License at the time they complete the program and apply for licensure.
Applicants who do not currently hold a Principal License may still be admitted to the program. However, they must sign a waiver acknowledging that they will not be eligible for either the Principal or Superintendent License upon completion of their Ed.D. degree. Prospective students are encouraged to consult with the program director and licensure manager to discuss individual circumstances.
