An externship is a short-term, unpaid ‘shadowing’ experience. During the School Psychology externship, you’ll get to learn from clinical school psychologists in the field at a variety of settings.
You will participate in externships during the first, second and third year of the program. At the same time, you’ll be enrolled in a seminar class designed to help you draw connections between your studies and field experience.
The internship is an organized training program designed to provide you with a planned sequence of training experiences that will develop your profession wide competencies in health service psychology, specializing in school psychology. You will complete this training experience in schools or clinical settings under the supervision of a mentor who will provide guidance and feedback. Students pursue both APPIC approved and non-APPIC internship opportunities.
