Background

Diana B. Lys, Ed.D., serves as Assistant Dean for Educator Preparation and Accreditation and Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Education. A national leader in teacher preparation, she designs and implements data-driven systems that support accreditation, program improvement, and equity-focused educator pipelines. Dr. Lys co-founded Pathway to Practice NC and is widely recognized for her leadership in building sustainable, innovative models that strengthen the educator workforce. As past president of the North Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and incoming chair of the Advisory Council of State Representatives, she is a committed policy advocate who shapes licensure, accountability, and educator workforce policy. Her work bridges research, practice, and policy to strengthen and diversify the teaching profession across North Carolina and beyond.
