Cohort Model

The online Ed.D. in Organizational Learning and Leadership program is cohort-based, and students enrolled at the beginning of each cohort move through the program together. Students collaborate closely with each other on class assignments. This helps them to create strong peer connections and immediately expands their professional network.

Optional In-Person Immersion

Each spring an optional in-person immersion allows students who are earning their doctorate in organizational learning leadership to create valuable connections with UNC School of Education faculty, staff members, and peers on the iconic UNC-Chapel Hill campus. The immersion is designed to provide students with a dynamic learning opportunity that fosters community building, connects students with program faculty, and offers a platform for exploration, exposure to real-world leadership practices, and networking with peers from other UNC School of Education programs.

Capstone

The academic rigor and practical learning acquired throughout the program culminates in a capstone experience. This project is designed to showcase the student’s ability to apply theoretical knowledge, empirical research, and innovative thinking to address complex challenges within the realm of organizational learning and leadership. The capstone includes a three-semester course sequence in which students identify a problem of practice — a complex and/or pervasive problem within the organization in which they work or within another organization’s practice — and, using lessons from past coursework, explore ways to solve it.
