Application to licensure preparation programs (like the MAT or UNC BEST programs) and application to be an NC Teaching Fellows are two separate processes.

The NC Teaching Fellows Commission reviews the NC Teaching Fellows applications, conducts interviews, and selects semi-finalists and finalists. UNC-Chapel Hill is NOT involved in the NC Teaching Fellows application and selection process.

Current UNC Undergraduate Students

Apply to NC Teaching Fellows BEFORE applying to licensure program (i.e., MAT, UNC-BEST).

We encourage incoming students to also apply to at least one of the other NC Teaching Fellows host campuses (Appalachian State University, East Carolina University, Elon University, Fayetteville State University, Meredith College, NC A&T University, NC State University, UNC-Charlotte, and UNC-Pembroke).

Deadlines

  • Applications will open in October 2025 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
