Application & Selection Process

Application to the School of Education’s licensure preparation programs (i.e. the B.A.Ed. in Elementary Education, MAT, or UNC-BEST programs) and application to become a North Carolina Teaching Fellow are two separate processes. The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission reviews applications to the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program, conducts interviews, and selects semi-finalists and finalists. UNC-Chapel Hill is NOT involved in the NC Teaching Fellows application and selection process.

Learn more about the North Carolina Teaching Fellows application and selection process and criteria on the North Carolina Teaching Fellows website.

Incoming First-Year, Graduate, and Transfer Students

We encourage prospective UNC-Chapel Hill students interested in the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program to also apply to at least one of the other partner institution (i.e. Appalachian State University, East Carolina University, Elon University, Fayetteville State University, Meredith College, NC A&T University, NC State University, UNC-Charlotte, and UNC-Pembroke).

Current UNC Undergraduate Students

Interested students must apply to North Carolina Teaching Fellows before applying to their intended licensure program within the School of Education. For information on applying to the School of Education’s undergraduate programs, please visit the Undergraduate Admissions and Aid page.
