Dates & Deadlines

The application process for all undergraduate degree programs in the UNC School of Education requires students to first initiate a change of major in ConnectCarolina. To ensure enough time to finish the application before the deadline, we have provided the deadline for starting a request in ConnectCarolina below. This will allow applicants the time to receive the Slate application link and complete it prior to the final submission deadline.

If you start in ConnectCarolina by the deadline, please note you will only have one day to complete and submit your application. We strongly encourage you to start early to allow sufficient time to complete and submit your application by the deadline.

  • Fall 2027 start
    • Priority Deadline: February 9, 2027
    • Final Deadline: April 13, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. 
    • The deadline for change of major requests in ConnectCarolina is April 12, 2027, at 11:59 p.m.

• Pre-M.A.T. (Early Affiliation)
  • Deadline: Rolling (Applications reviewed on a monthly basis.)
  • UNC-Chapel Hill students may apply to affiliate with Pre-MAT as early as when they are accepted to Carolina.
• Minor in Education
  • Deadline: None (You may declare the Education Minor at any time by meeting with an Academic Advisor.)
