Practicums are field experiences during which students observe and document school counselors performing their professional duties. Students may participate in performing tasks under supervision to a limited extent and are enrolled in a concurrent course (EDUC 766+ Practicum in School Counseling).

Internships provide students with an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they’ve acquired in their studies to a real job position.  Students are enrolled in the concurrent course EDUC 705+ Fall, Spring, and Summer Internship.

Students may not progress to the Internship until they have successfully completed the Practicum.

See the School Counseling Handbook for a full explanation of Practicum and Internship Policies.
